The Fallen Stars
Cold tendrils against my cheek,
At least I can feel something
Warmth brushing my shins,
A feast of kings spread across the sky.
Sprinkles of starlight come to join us,
They flicker as they flit like fireflies,
In between my brethren.
The spirits from the days before arrive,
Forgetting about their horrors,
If only for a moment.
And far, far below, lie the fallen stars
Twinkling like they’ll never go out.
