Planet A

The trees are cut down

The rivers look brown.

Wildfires disfigure the West.

Hurricanes level the rest.

They say act before it's too late,

But we produce more plastic waste.

We are dousing the flames of climate change with oil

So we will watch our planet spoil.

They say it's a hoax,

But the earth jokes with no folks.

They want to flee

And leave their problems with me.

But our generation will fight

To protect our Earth for more nights.

Because we have no plan B

When there is no planet B.

The author's comments:

Climate Change is one of the most pressing problems that face this generation, yet we still see a lack of action on this issue. When I saw the statistics about climate change, I was frankly frightened by the severity of the issue. So I wrote this poem hoping that others would take action after reading it.
