Let that holy rage sing through my bones

Let that stifling sainthood affix on my brow

Let me kneel at your long-dead pyre

And make your end into my own

Hold my heart in your hands

Hold my power in your gaze

Hold my head to the stars

And show me what I was too weak to see before

Forgive my sins, my faults, my transgressions

Forgive my existence, my hopes, my love

Forgive my past, my present, my future

And punish me as you see fit

Love me, cherish me, protect me

Loathe my presence but look upon me kindly

Swarm me in that moth-eaten blanket of blessing

And I will offer you all that I am.

The author's comments:

My name is Neha. In my free time, I enjoy reading, writing in the moonlight, and dancing. I'm also an editor in my school's literary magazine, Threshold, and I enjoy writing poetry because it offers me the chance to express myself in a unique way.
