Mirror Mirror
“Mirror Mirror on the wall, why can’t I be the fairest of them all?’
You open the door for all my insecurities-
and let them rush in like frantic shoppers on black Friday.
I look at you and feel my self esteem saying…
“Houston we’re going down.”
I try to run, yet you always find me.
It's almost like you are a bounty hunter.
You distort my being and leave me guessing what I truly look like,
when all I want is a telescopic view.
I desire to be aphrodite,
yet you won’t allow it.
When I look into you I am lost-
like a child searching for their mother in Disney World.
One day I’ll take the Louisville Slugger,
and shatter your cockeye perception.
Or, one day, I’ll appreciate you,
and embrace my radiance which you emote.

I wrote this piece about the constant battle I face with my mirror. How I never truly know what I look like. I tired to shed light on said topic to help me cope and heal with this issue.
