I wrote this when I was in a psych ward. I struggled with general anxiety and other undiagnosed mental illnesses. I saw kids there who had totally given up hope. I knew they were like me. I saw how they struggled. That's when I realized, I can only support these kids, but I am able to help myself. I started being more compassionate to myself, and life slowly got better. Since I've been released there has been more good than bad days. Sometimes it's still hard for me to live a typical life, but I remind myself this does not matter. Whenever I am able to feel at home with myself, I feel happier, and to me, happiness is true success.
