Nature’s triumph

The sun beams, and the crystal water unites with the sand on shore.

Kids clash against the soothing soft sand, startling the sea gulls.

The crystal water splashes against me, as the tides rise into the air.

Seashells sink to the bottom of the hollow sea, impatiently waiting to reemerge.

A sea turtle dawdles onto shore, as she lays her eggs to nest on the dusty sand.

As I look into the distance at the sea’s horizon, I see an unusual sight.

A swarm of dark, enraged clouds is headed our way, as if it was filled with irritation at our frolics.

The ill-lit clouds weren’t like the other ones we had seen hours ago, it was the exact opposite of a fuzzy, vivid white.

The new-appearing clouds felt alienated amongst it’s lively opponent that stretched upon the blue sky.

It’s bitterness enveloped the white clouds, and as soon as I knew it, the blue sky was now just a distant memory, as it was replaced by a bundle of gray, gloomy fog.

Looking upon the eerie sight, I felt a single tear run down my cheek, as so I thought.

It had began to rain.

The beaming sun, was now blocked by the dim gang of clouds.

The clashing kids, who were now prepared to leave, were filled with disappointment as they sticked their tongues out at the dark sky.

The crystal water, which was still in control by the tides, was now being rippled by the rain.

The water lost it’s warmness, now that the gleaming sun was clouded.

The seashells, still waiting to re-emerge, continuously saw the seaweed on the surface float by, growing them envious.

The lady sea turtle, who was finally done concealing her nest, crawled back into the rippling sea to rest, only to come back later the season.

And I, lay there in the rain as my mom packs our stuff to leave. I look around and see that we are the last ones on the beach.

The air is fillied with dismay, as the rain falls down onto the sand.

I get up and hurry to my mother to help her pack with my little sister at her side.

We’re ready to leave, but as soon as we reach the now soaking bridge that connects us to the parking lot, I hear claps of thunder behind me.

I turn around to the sounds, the sounds of the dark sky laughing at the empty beach,  gloating at the success of the evacuation.

I face back to the bridge, as the storm triumphs in the endless gust of wind.

My name is Zariya. I wrote this poem being inspired by the beach, my favorite place to go. I wrote it in a way other people could relate to the feelings we all have when nature undergoes excepted changes that may ruin our day, as this is based off of one of my experiences at the beach.
