Autumn Warmth
When I walked outside,
I sensed many things.
I saw the park across the street,
And all the tall trees surrounding the play structure.
The bright red fire hydrant stands solid in the ground.
I smell the fall smell.
It’s indescribable but very strong and distinct.
It’s a comforting smell,
One that gives me strong memories of my childhood and past.
The leaves under my feet crunched and crunched with each step.
The air is warm,
Too warm for fall.
I wish it were cooler.
I hear horns
From cars as they rush down woodward.
I hear the WOOSH their tires make on the wet road.
As I make my way back home,
The leaves under my feet continue to crunch as I walk,
And the warmth of the outside world fades,
As I enter my home.

I wrote this poem because I felt the need to go outside, and I felt that I wanted to take note of the things I sensed outside
