THE JUNGLE
I find myself
Walking
With a heavy heart
You hold me
In the palm of your hand.
I march on
Leaves strewn on the jungle floor
My mind
A mess of vines
The twisting path I follow
Takes me back to where I began.
I find myself
Trapped
In your jungle.
I trip
On a branch
And fall.
I do not get up
I do not march on
Down the path that leads
Back to you.
As I lay in the depths of the jungle,
You close your fist.

This piece was written during a low point of a messy relationship. It conveys my feelings of sunken hopelessness, being stuck in a loop with this person despite trying to escape it, and eventually the feeling of defeat and giving up.
