SENSE'S

I hear a train speeding by in the distance,

The amazon van stopping outfront

The filter in the turtle tank

The crunch of pretzels

The mailman dropping off letters,

The laptop restarting

I hear the mice in the walls.

I hear James playing basketball

The refs whistle

The footsteps on the stairs

The bees in the garden

The air conditioning humming

The opening of the fridge,

I hear the target doors opening.

I hear the Buick stalling

The cash register opening

The ringing of phones,

The honking of car horns

The closing of doors

The clicking of a keyboard,

I hear an awkward chuckle.

I hear the tapping of a cats paws,

The barking of a dog

The nervous tap of someones foot

The clicking of pens

The ding of a text message,

I hear the clicking of TV remotes.

I hear Olivia’s laughter,

The purring of a cat

Snuggled on the floor.

I hear raindrops hitting the window,

The pine trees brushing against each other

The deer stepped through the forest.

I feel the damp ground,

The brisk cold air,

Its frostiness stabs my throat

I feel the rain.
