Walking alone at night and hearing footsteps.

Your heart almost pounds out of your chest to the simple

tap tap tap

Of his shoes

This terror is one they will never understand.

So why on earth

Do they get to decide what happens to our bodies of which they violate?

They see us as objects for them to help themselves to.

Then have the audacity to blame us?

What was she wearing?

Isn’t the right question why did he do it?

They bang their gavel and drown out our voices.

They crave control over us.

They protest to take our freedom of choice over our own bodies away.

But we will never stop screaming.

That is something they will be forced to understand.

My body is MINE.

It is not for you to control or place your opinion on.

KEEP YOUR LAWS OFF OUR BODIES!

I have always felt strongly about this topic, so I'm happy to have finally gotten around to writing about it. I'm a freshman in high school and I've always enjoyed writing. I had fun writing this piece and getting my feelings out. It has more of an angry, frustrated tone which I really love.
