Leaves
I see the many years
Of rain
Of wind
Of storm
A tree
Lush of green
Beginning to lose leaves
One followed by another
A sea
Of red, orange, yellow
And brown
Fall
Then winter
How the tree
Looks so bitter, motionless
without its blanket
Of leaves
Spring
The rain
How it brings back to life
Then the warmth
Of summer
Leaves on a tree told more of a story
Of her life
Than anyone could ever tell
I’ve seen her many years
Of rain
Of wind
Of storm
A graceful and gentle woman
A tree who lost its leaves
Her lifetime
I grieve
And her leaves
I shall forever keep
