This sadness is hollow,

Like an echoing chamber.

This love is madness,

Like a late-night fever.

This heart is beating,

Like a drug raging against a storm.

This body is empty,

Like a tomb for just one flower.

This girl is forgotten

As she erases herself away.

The author's comments:

This poem is about the general disconnect I felt towards my body and my mind growing up in an environment that wasn't always welcoming.
