Every student is a fire.
Each classroom, a campfire, set ablaze;
Five days a week, the school burns,
but the fire depends on the kindling to light,
and every hour it can change.
The fire is managed, fueled, by pyrotechnicians
of the highest caliber, lives dedicated
to ensure our world is engulfed
by the passionate inferno of fascination-
consumed with knowledge.
Knowledge is what keeps us alight, forests burning with a
craving,
wanting,
needing for more.
I, too, am a fire.
My flames burn bright with desire,
and love
and understanding
and hope- for a better future.
One day, I hope to stand in a room,
and toss a can of gasoline:
to instill such burning inspiration into a newfound fire.

This is my entry for the PTA 21-22 Reflections Contest. The prompt was "I will change the world by...", which gives me a chance to write about something I've wanted to for a while- my want to inspire people to make change by being a teacher.
