The Colors of Love
Love is not a single color
It can be a shiny rose gold
Like a brand new necklace
Something you can’t wait to show off
Love can be several colors
It can be a colorful rainbow
Like one in the brilliant beaming sky
After a gloomy thunder storm
Love may seem like one color
Masked with a bright yellow
Like the burning sun shining down on earth
Showing only positivity to the public
Love could become a deeper color
Turning to a blood red
Like a sour candy freshly put into your mouth
Slowly growing numb to the pain
Love may be perceived as different colors
But chiefly, it is a long lasting green
Like a deep dark forest filled with nature
It may seem scary as entering, but gradually you'll grow fond of it

Shyanne B. is an 18 year old senior who attends Lapeer High School. She would always read as a hobby and slowly she grew to love writing as well. She took this class to learn more about how to be a better author and to learn the ropes of being entertaining in her work. Her other hobbies include drawing, skateboarding, and making jewelry. She plans to attend an art school to become an animator.
Her poem “The Colors of Love” was inspired by the way her previous relationship made her feel. She chose to publish this poem because of her past experiences and how they shaped her into who she is today. She wanted to allow people to understand that what people say about love isn't always true, and that it can be a vile experience if it isn’t with the right person.
