People Pleaser
Tell me why you are sad; unburden yourself on my shoulders; let your tears fall from my cheeks; let my tongue spit out all you have suppressed; let my throat grow hoarse from your screams; let me hold my mask to your mouth so I can breathe in the undying toxins instead; let my lips crack and bleed from your sharp teeth against fragile flesh; let my eyes blacken from the cold fists aimed at your chest; let my hair fall out from their constant pulling of yours; let the locks pile on the floor and become a nest for your dreams; let my knees grow weak from the unbearable weight thrust upon you; let my stomach grow cobwebs with your starvation for validation; let my mind deteriorate with your most heinous thoughts; let me writhe with your feelings of guilt; let my back feel the sting of the knife stabbed into yours; let my feet endure jagged cuts from destroying the eggshells you have been forced to walk on; and then let yourself be free; let your cheeks feel only a stream of stardust, let your tongue move with rhythm and song; let your lungs breathe in free words instead of contaminated air; let your lips fill with strawberry syrup and leave a trace of sugar against another’s; let your brown eyes become the sun itself with the absence of winter clouds; let yourself become sleepy with a full and satisfying meal of love; let yourself dance barefoot across the summer grass as the crows fly away with the worries you have gifted them; let your mind and body grow strong; and I will stand where you once stood in the corner of life's circle because I just want you to be happy, even if that means I am not.
