What color is anxiety?
Anxiety,
The feeling you get,
Before walking on stage.
Or crossing an old rickety bridge,
The deepest shade of charcoal gray,
The smell of white smoke and burning buildings.
Anxiety,
Something you experience before exams,
Or before presenting a project,
Even the feeling of becoming a new parent.
Everyone has a story of anxiety
But for me.
Anxiety,
A complex emotion,
Weight of an elephant,
100 pound weights on your arms and ankles,
Blank mind or 1000 thoughts at once,
Stop thinking!
Anxiety,
Head trapped under water,
Unable to reach the surface for air,
Will I ever get the sweet relief of oxygen again?
Come on!
Just breathe!
Anxiety is,
Panic attack once a week,
Breakdowns in hallways,
Too scared to order my own food,
Hearing everyone call me overdramatic,
Just listen to me!
Anxiety,
A lump that’s caught in my throat,
A fear unable to be shaken,
Finally accepting being vanquished,
Devouring me inside out.
Leave me alone!
Anxiety,
Legs shaking non stop,
Continuous knuckle popping,
Stumbling over shaky words,
Hands twitching,
Staying still isn’t an option.
Just relax!
Anxiety,
One of the worst feelings(mental illness),
Painful, Mentally draining, Emotion,
Affecting my everyday life,
Making me wish it could disappear.
A torture I hold inside.
