The Day He Fell
He catches rays of sunshine in his hair
The earth grows dark as an ominous beckoning to the sky
Did you see the way he fell?
Lights of heaven could not compare
Fingertips of emerald green,
Jealous of his feathers flown by gods to touch stars
Could you imagine how the oceans quaked
As he emitted his hysteria from the fever of his lungs
His eyes brazen, focused on the clouds from which he fell
Waxy tears streamed down his cheeks
To his mouth
Golden blood drips thick as ink down his back
His ribs
His thighs
His feet
Had you seen this betrayal,
The consciousness of missing passion
Clear in the hole in his chest
You would see my dreams at night
Of brilliant eyes who locked on mine
