The Sand is Warm for You

The rolling tide tumbles in, constant waves crashing onto the shoreline,

The golden sand between my toes, warm and filled with happy sunshine

Standing there in sparkling light, the bokeh lights stretching far and beyond

I remember the sweet summer I spent with you.

Waves crash gently on the shore,

Quiet as a jellyfish floating in nothing

Soft hands caress the sand dollar that was hidden,

Soft giggles erupting from your pink, supple lips

With the tide’s leave, the sun melts into the horizon,

It creates soft sweetness,

pastels, cloudy skies

Putting out a display of

A million colors

Reflected in water

Reflected in you.

Again we sit on the shore, watching nature’s breathtaking display,

I feel your head loll into my shoulder, lashes fluttering.

As we take our leave, the findings and fun of the day have gone away,

I sigh to myself quietly and hold your hand tight, muttering,

“I wish summer would never end.”

I love writing, and this particular poem was written for my girlfriend. We both love the beach, and dream of going together one day.
