Your First Heartbreak
Your First Heartbreak
“He left me,” I sob.
The world feels as though it has caved in.
The clock reads 1 a.m. and I lie wide awake,
everything aching.
Warm tears flow down my cheek.
Thoughts swarm my head
reminiscing on memories we shared.
The breakup was not the worst part.
Watching someone you once knew
become a stranger in a blink of an eye.
Acting like you are okay.
Memories you shared still trapped inside your head
is the worst part.
Even after you left me, I find myself still craving you.
You looked at me and told me you loved me
even though you knew this would never work.
I wish you would have given more.
When you left
you took a piece of me with you.
Now I must go on and forget.
Forget you and the memories
that swarm my head each night.
