A New World
We used to go to football games,
A crowd in the stands, smiling and cheering for our friends.
We use to travel, see new places and meet new people,
Spreading love, not diseases.
We use to go to parties,
Share meals and drinks with people we barely knew.
We use to get close at school
Share materials, laugh about the coursework.
Now we still see each other, just from a distance
We smile at each other, but just under a mask,
We connected through our phones and social media
Rather than face to face.
We stick to hanging out with our closest friends.
We take more time to ourselves
Watching movies and reading
We connect to nature as we are told it is safer to meet outside.
However, we still love and cherish anytime spent with our
Friends and family because we don’t know when it
Could all go away again.
