A Friend Called Raina
Stop.
Stop tearing yourself down,
like the walls in an abandoned house.
I need you.
With you I feel at home.
You are the best writer I've ever met,
you're braver than I'll be the day that I die,
and you're the best friend I've ever had.
But, you've set the bar too high.
Like the monkey bars I boosted you onto when we were nine.
Nobody will be as perfect of a friend as you are,
nobody will ever compare.
And for that I resent you.
I don't know how I will love myself if you are not a part of me.
I can't tell you this.
I would feel weak and sedimental.
But if even for a second,
you could see yourself the way I see you.
You would be un-freaking-stoppable.
