Favorite Quote:
Happiness hit her like a train on a track.

sunshine child

how bright the smile

flowers burst from his strides

the white long-sleeved shirt he wore

felt clearer than a blue sky

and warmer than a picnic by the lakeside

there were no holes in the innocence

no dirt in his eyes

but the air that fluffed up his hair knew

behind the purest smiles held the most

devilish malice

and if I hadn’t known any better

the sunshine child

would’ve made me

only one of the reeds and weeds

he’s left behind

no longer basking in the glory

of the sunshine child’s story

I really enjoy the rhymes in this piece and I was inspired by this post on Instagram of someone I knew. The picture displayed them in such a good light that it made them seem like they're incapable of any harm, but that is not the truth in any way. As a result, I wrote this poem from the perspective of someone who has been a victim of their harsh ways but is still intrigued in the idea of being friends.
