I look at the picture hidden on my phone

From a time that I was happy and didn’t feel so alone

A girl and her dad an unbreakable bond

At least that’s what I thought, did I do something wrong?

Looking at this picture I wanted to ask

“Was taking care of me too hard of a task?

Please help me out I ask in a prayer

All I wanted was for you to care

Looking at the picture I began to cry

You drifted away like the sun in the sky

Leaving me here with no father by my side

Funny thing is you never even tried

Looking at this picture of a girl and a stranger

Not recognizing either you or her

My mom had to raise three kids all by herself

That’s why the pictures of her are framed on the shelf

Looking at this picture I get a memory from the past

Of you disappearing like a ghost, clearly and fast

My mom wasn’t a test, you didn’t have to cheat

I look at this picture and click... Delete

My dad has never been a constant in my life and for that, I am not sorry. My mom is my best friend and I wrote this poem for her. It was my freshmen year of high school when I first wrote this poem and now, I am a senior. I love to write and express my feelings through poetry. Poetry is a constant in my life.
