Waiting For Friday
I don’t know who needed to hear this, but stop waiting for Friday.
Stop waiting for the freedom of the schoolbell chirping that the school day is over.
Stop waiting for summer.
Stop waiting for the sunlight that bakes your skin and warms your soul.
Stop waiting for graduation.
Stop waiting for the euphoric independence that builds a whole new universe of opportunities.
Instead
Start thanking.
Start thanking the Wednesdays
Start thanking the Wednesdays for reminding you of your responsibilities
Start thanking the winter
Start thanking the sharp snowflakes that nip at your face
Because that little pain is what reminds you that you are alive
Start thanking sophomore year
Start thanking it for the perfect blend of responsibility and freedom
Stop waiting for the future and start appreciating the present
