floating/sinking
Childhood
Feels like a fever dream -
Hazy, almost like it never happened.
Reading in nooks in
Barnes and Nobles,
Attending early morning storytimes.
Clutching onto the
Hand of my mother,
The world smothers me.
Floating through my days
Without consequence,
A yacht propelling through easy water
No anchors holding me down.
Now the waters have mudded,
The river’s bottom no longer visible,
Am I floating or
Sinking?
