These Magic Lands Whisper
these citizens of folk and lore
magic creatures of deja vu, their-
lands may shift, yet they prevail
whisper their truths, in fairy tales
dragon, werewolf, siren, hydra
different authors, different artists
and yet they’re seen in all magic lands
let’s take the timeless mermaid
here flowing hair, there webbed hands
she morphs but does not fade
griffin, centaur, vampire, cyclops
a lower part of ourselves see truth
in the monsters of our youth
banshee, fairy, mermaid, ogre
maybe they’re just reflections of our kind
placed in
far
far away
magic lands
to ease the mind

I have always been intrigued with mythical tales and love brining those magic elements into my writing. This piece specifically was inspired by my observations that certain mythical creatures have become so ingrained into cultures and show up in so many forms and my thoughts on why that is.
