Citylights
When summer collapsed into fall,
the swim-wears set aside and coats shrugged on;
the dead leaves were strewn across the bed of the earth.
Empty roads missed the bustling crowds,
The street lamps stood feeling useless.
The winds blew, hiding the swallowed sighs of the undressed trees;
For they, too, missed you.

When I wrote this piece, I was unsure about how it sounded. To me, it seemed not up to the mark. But as they say, you are your biggest critic. Soon I realized, although short it was full of emotions and beautiful. Hope you enjoyed reading Citylights by Alveena. Thank you!
