We are getting murdered
Why are we judged by the color of our skin?
Why are we looked down upon?
Why are we getting killed for no reason?
Why are we seen as ¨thugs¨?
WHY? WHY? WHY?
Being black isn't really about being black,
It's about if you portray the color.
If your color doesn't match theirs,
And that makes us a threat
Being black means,
We have no privilege
Privilege, what a funny word
Wonder what that feels like.
Privilege, something I want
But will never have.
Privilege, something that
Has brung this country to ruins.
Imagine being black for a second
Walking home after a long day,
And you getting arrested with force out of nowhere,
Just because you fit the description of a criminal…
Imagine you driving home and a police officer killing you
Because she confused a short, bright, yellow taser
For a longer, darker and heavier gun.
Imagine going to a deli to buy something
And cops come out of nowhere to arrest you,
You aren´t resisting arrest,
Yet they threaten you and use force
Throw you on the ground and place their knee on your neck,
Continue pressing hard and your in pain yelling,
¨I CAN'T BREATHE!¨ ¨I CAN'T BREATHE!¨
But they continue… and you die?
No you didn't die! you got murdered for no reason
Is this what the world has come to?
Are these the people that are supposed to ¨protect¨ us?
Are these the people we should trust?
We take them to court,
We defend ourselves
We show proof about our injustices
But our cases still get dismissed
The justice system has failed us
We are seen as guilty as soon as we walk in
Imagine going to public places wearing regular clothes
And people walking away from you because you dress ¨like a gangster¨
If you have designer stuff people assuming that you stole it
Having money means that you get it an illegal way
Why can't we just be treated like regular human beings
Why can't we be accepted for who we are
WE are getting killed
WE are getting discriminated against
WE are dying
WE are innocent people
WE are in agony
WE we are afraid
WE need help
