Faces on a Screen
Blank pallid faces
Staring at a screen,
Glossy unblinking eyes
Gazing on, uncomprehendingly.
At other faces on a screen.
~
Just breathing zombies
Sitting in their homes
Staring at all the
Faces on the screen,
That stare back, disinterestedly.
~
Faces that once used to
Light up with joy,
Cry out in anger,
Now, don't really feel.
Just listless faces, full of apathy.
~
Faces that just nod
In unison to the beat,
Faces that once had
Opinions and individuality,
Now stick to the lines of the given script.
~
Faces that once used to
Sing out loud
From their hearts,
Have now been silenced
Into a voiceless crowd.
~
Faces that I used to
Call "loved ones",
Have become distant strangers
Who stare at each other,
From the other side of the screen.

"Faces on a Screen" is a poem about how people give up their opinions, lose their individuality, and start marching to the beat of society's drums. In doing so, they are reduced to barely living zombies, and lose all that they love. It also refers to how people grow apart from their family and friends during tumultous times of separation.
