I rolled over onto our white, cold sheets

My hand grazed over the vacant spot next to me.

You had always hated the cold.

Maybe that’s why you left.

But as I get up and walk outside,

With the warm rays of light shining

over me

on our porch

over the beach

amidst the ocean

I realize that it was me.

I was the cold.
