I Remember (2020 Poem)
I remember never having to worry about the world
We wouldn't have worry about what is happening today
Or what is going to happen tomorrow
Your always hearing about something new
The good and that bad
the world is becoming more and more divided by the day
Some would say that that world is broken
But we cant give up
we have to remember that we are the ones that can make a change.
At one point in this world racial disrimination was huge
Most would think that was to stay as part of the past
But it is sad that we still need to settle the problem today
It is upsetting that those of color are still being treated differently
Just because someone looks different
Or believes in something different
Does not allow one to treat another differently
No matter whom they love
Or which religion they practice
Or because of their race and ethnicity is unlike yours
No one should have to be scared to do something
or go somewhere because of their differences
I believe that everyone should be treated equally and respectfully
And that you should be able to fight for yourself and for those you love
I remember being able to go out to the world and great people and have a good time
But for our safety and others safety we have been trapped from doing so
We would go out with friends, hang with family, and travel the world
But the pandemic is stopping us from doing those things we love
Many lives have been lost, but we must do what is right to prevent more losses
We might not be able to bring back those lives
But we can continue to fight for what is right and for those lives
Things can get difficult, life can get hard
But we will have to remember that these things happening in the world
will not stop us from having fun
And that this cannot stop us from fighting until there is equality for all
We must continue to fight for the rights of those who are being treated unfairly
We most continue to use our voices and speak loudly to be heard
I believe that we can make America into the place that we remember
We must all come together despite our differences
Because we are the ones that can make a difference in this word
We have to remember that after darkness always comes light
And that we must never give up and never stop fighting for what we believe.
