We just want to be free

We tried for centuries to do it carefully

But the majority just turns a blind eye

Not their problem, they’re care free

So we had to stir the pot, now all eyes on me

We explain the pain vividly, they still act like they don’t believe

Years of racism and hurt, what can they not see?

Bottled up animosity results in violence

Wouldn’t have happened if our blood wasn’t on the street

We’re just fighting to be free

Yet we’re seen as ghetto animals

While those barbarians kill us carelessly

i relate to this poem as a black individual in America who has experienced the racial tensions in the country today.
