A LETTER TO THE BROWN LITTLE ME
Dear Me,
I'm proud that you flaunt one of the most loved colour, when it comes to coffee or tea. Well I wonder why does this world doesn't qualify this colour when it comes to skin. I'm penning you this letter to make you realise how gorgeous you are my love. I know that you and me are brought up with a sibling who is two shades lighter than us, so you always had a competition, whether certain clothes suit your tone or whether this lipstick shade is meant for you or not. Nevertheless darling then you and me fell in love with someone who preferred us with a flawless skin. And I know all these things breaks your heart a million times.
Soo let me tell you the scars you are frightened of are as iconic as an ancient fossils engraved in the soil indicating something precious and painful happened here.
The darkness you feel pity upon are just as an serene night sky, and the two little eyes glittering are the sun and the moon lovers. The smile you always felt should have been better is imperfect and infectious just as a wavering wave, not a proper curve but powerful enough to conquer the world.
So no matter if anyone loves you or not, I will always love you, because you are me and I'm you, I promise to never leave your side and forever take care of you.
Your's lovingly,
TheFuture You

I'm Shruti from India and I'm 15 years old. This is a letter to my younger self when I totally hated myself for having a dark complexion. While I grew up I started loving and accepting myself and it is a part of it. This is a remind to myself to love, accept and flaunt who I'm. And not get swayed away by the ruthless comments on my skin tone. Thankyou.
