Tell me again please. I totally asked for your unsolicited comment.

Just like how all the girls reported in the media are ‘asking for it’ huh?
Breathe in.

Breathe out.

I forgot we’re just sooo emotional and dramatic aren’t we?

Let me take a moment to recollect myself.

We put on pretty pink lipstick and draw on the tallest heels.

We put ourselves into this tiny bubble of your standards yet still somehow manage to survive in this ‘man's world.’
You tell me to smile more but then ridicule me for not having pretty perfect teeth and a to-die-for shine in my eyes.
Sorry to be bearer of bad news but we aren’t here just to be a bearer of your children.
So please. Tell me again how I should smile more.

I just live to know your stupid little thoughts on somebody you can never please anyway.

The author's comments:

This piece was inspired by Lauren Ramos and her art piece called "You Should Smile More".

It discusses the polarizing problems women face in everyday life. Past and present. And gives a sarcastic and brooding tone toward the standards and stereotypes women are pushed into. It shines light on the importance of women in the world as well. Women aren't objects nor are they just simply used again and again for children. They are a staple in our existence and should be acknowledged as equal and just as important as men.
