Society Issue Free Verse Poem
Fear.
Fear is something that everyone will experience.
Fear is different to everyone.
This could cause people to be irrational.
However, despite fear being different for everyone
No one should have to tell someone to be afraid
Seeing a certain group of people should not scare you
Fear should not come just from the sight of someone
Fear should not be taught
To some, the term white privilege is not a real thing
To anyone of color, it is
Not having to be worried around a white person
Not being afraid when going into public
Not having to stay on your guard
Fear should not control your decisions
You should be able to relax and be worry free.
You should be able to confidently make decisions and not think about the consequences
The thought of the worst possible thing happening is not normal.
Or rather, in this day in age it shouldn’t be.
Scared of the people who should be protecting you.
Scared of the people you go to school with.
We should not have to fear due to skin color, race, or religious beliefs.
What’s wrong isn’t us,
What’s wrong is the world.
Discrimination will never leave the world
The only thing we can do is stop the ideals from spreading.
