Excerpt from "Letters From a Sunrise Lover"
don’t tell me I am weak
I am seventy different bodies
all pressed into one
I am a grotto full of seaweed
born from a dying sun
I come from a tiny seed
mother to eldest son
a face formed from steam
and a life has just begun
in named substances, I live
between grey mortar and stone
cracks adorn my surface
and call my flesh their home
in dreams, I chant your name
weave skeleton from bone
as the air fills my lungs
and my lungs build my throne
god built me with this form
so that you will not forget
from the womb, I was not born
to live a life without me in it
