I’m riding my bicycle

It feels as cold as icicles

The connecting, white bars appear like triangles

Preserving the rounded black wheels; they never entangle

The wheels turn in a steady pattern

The bicycle chains follow after

They wheels step slowly across the black asphalt

Rarely, they race too fast to halt

And speed past the green trees and fields

Lined up with yields

Of grass

My hands remain shaky on the handlebars

They soon become filled with calloused scars

My legs remain wobbly and shuddering

It seems they can’t perform the command I’m uttering

Inside my head; I’m too afraid

Afraid of going too fast, or of the bike being swayed

Too far towards the left or right….

Sending me crashing to the ground in fright!

My feet move back on the pedals

My hands click the breaks; as cold as metals

Each time I try to move the pedal, my foot slips

Back to the ground; in rapid dips

Come on, Esther! I yell silently

Yet, my legs continue to shudder violently

The sun shines gently on my back

Some wind starts to whack

My body

After waiting for a little bit, I tried again

Hoping I won’t be afraid, and not give up, then

I press down on the pedal, and to my suprise,

My leg picks up; and the wheels glide!

I’m riding my bike; finally!

The wheels speed up, the bike veers slightly

I think I’m liking this bike riding!
