Climate Change is the result of overindulgence

Very few predicted how much growth we would truly produce

And fewer would care even if they knew

As there was no known downside to the advancement of humanity

All things that we know now sprouted from this ideal

Now we find ourselves in a regressing state

The consequences make themselves continuously apparent

To know that it is being perpetuated by the cycles that created it

We are rapidly chipping away at the dam

Unknowing, as we can not see things on a broader scale

Yet also uncaring as the lust for wealth and power as a species, overshadows it

We continuously strive to create and produce

To enhance and exchange

Yet we have pushed too quickly and aggressively

The ball has been set into motion

It has been gaining speed for years

And the slope is getting exponentially steeper

The more devastating consequences are on the way

There is of course the melting of the ice caps

Rising, heating, and acidification of the seas

Leading to more intense and unpredictable weather

More floods

More droughts

More frequent and powerful disasters

The ice that regulated the earth’s temperature has been melted

Further speeding the process

The vast coastal reefs are being wiped clean of life

Sterilized completely, drained of color

The deep seas overfished, filled with plastic,

altered in temperature and chemical composition

These alterations will lead to many species being unable to survive in their environments,

While others like sea algae will flourish

Droughts will alter the natural ratio of water to salt, allowing the sea algae to spread into our remaining water

As the ocean deteriorates, many organisms will perish, disrupting the natural carbon cycle

This will allow the oceans to become even more acidic and less able to capture Co2 from the atmosphere

Further speeding the warming of the earth

As environments change, their inhabitants leave

Driving mass amounts of insects into our crops

Along with the topsoil being drained of nutrients,

Due to the constant growth needed to sustain our ways of living,

Droughts taking portions of our water and allowing the rest to be seized by algae,

Growing conditions not being able to be met,

And fires increasing in quantity and intensity,

Major food shortages will be experienced across the planet

These effects will cause extreme problems for economics

Further worsening food shortages and mass migration

With medicine, food, water being rarer

And the amount of toxins in our environment rising

The human population will be decimated

All life will suffer

If we continue down this road

And the cycles continuously perpetuate each other

If we continue it is very possible that all fauna and megafauna will go extinct

We are in the midst of the 6th mass extinction

And while efforts are being made

They may prove to be futile if we don’t see our situation for what it will be in the decades to come
