I Wish I Could Tell You
I want to apologize to
You, to the bright eyed and
Curious girl who played with
Bugs and danced with bees.
I want to apologize to
You, to the aspiring adventurer,
The fearless braveheart,
Nothing stood in your way.
Shouting from the top of the
treehouse,”I am Captain Ozzie!”
Do you remember how much
Dad loved Ozzie Osbourne?
Do you remember how you used to be?
Do you know that you are actually me?
In a world where time travel is possible,
I would say some things to you,
Or I guess I should say me.
It’s not your fault, you were
So kind to yourself, but then
You grew up. You forgot yourself,
Your passions, your kindness, your
Bravery.
I admire that about you now, how much
You didn’t care.
You didn’t care about being “one of the boys”
You didn’t care about looking good for school,
Or looking good to “impress” boys.
You cared about your next adventure,
You cared about school, friends, family.
Things that mattered.
How did I let these values slip?
I’m so sorry, little me.
I will do better for us.

This poem is an ode to my younger self, written in the form of an apology. She deserved better than what she has now, and shes going to work harder to better herself.
