A Stony Summer's Day

The sun was immense and radiant among the swollen puffs of white,

The birds were serenading the earth with delicate melodies,

A perfectly brisk and refreshing summer breeze was blowing,

Children in a nearby field radiated glee and gave off orange laughs.

The sky came straight from a painting with its intense lapis hue,

However, I was angry at Mother Nature on this marvelous day.

Why make yourself so exquisite if I don’t have the arms and legs to truly enjoy you?

Why mock me with your grace and elation if I cannot join you?

Why, oh why, did you create me to be the way I am?

For I am a bitter and resentful rock with no body to frolic in the fields.

This poem was created because my creative writing teacher told me to go out of my comfort zone and write something funny.
