Serenity Meets Rage
Serenity Meets Rage
The calm emptiness of the sea
Meeting the dark waters of rage
Strange light dripping off your suit
As you tread over an ombre of somber color
I watch the regal and the royal
Flaunt their extravagance and dignity
As they grip at power and money,
Clawing, climbing, and scratching over each other
A sign of deerstalkers and skulls
And six-sided dice that stick to the table
The likes that Christie and Clark
Could only hope to create
Visions that make Hecate and Circe dance
Among pigs and polecats, dogs and pathways
Thin fabric clinging to them
As floating lights lick at their skin
Vera and Phillip crossing Hermia and Lysander.
Helena and Demetrius laying far off
As the Queen’s husband turns men to donkeys
And haters to lovers
The air clogged with the stench of wine
Teeth stained with dark color
The essence of your creativity
Dripping from your lips
Yet stories of death and magic,
Royalty and imagination
Could never hope
To catch your beauty on a page
