Asleep in Bed
Curled up in bed, a small girl lay;
Craving nothing but her daddy’s love and care.
With no words exchanged, not a sight for naught;
Just an unsaid gesture. A hand to stroke away the fear she thought.
Curled up in bed, a small girl lay;
Screaming inertly for her mommy to come and stay.
Not a word said, not a judgement at bay,
Just a ear to hear, her muffled cries of words to say.
Curled up in bed, a small girl lay;
Embracing the arms that chased the cold away.
Filled with the love that numbed her pain-filled body.
Her saviour knight who lifted her up,
was that somebody.
Little did she know that she should have savoured her ecstasy
Because after she woke... she knew that he no longer was anybody
