love fades
you were red,
and I was blue.
then we touched
and became a lavender sky.
we flourished in our purple,
melting in each other’s arms.
we whispered love,
honey glazing our tongues.
we dreamed of eternity,
of everlasting warmth.
you were a blanket,
engulfing me in your arms.
we thought violet was lasting.
but when we kissed,
lilac dripped from our lips,
and we pretended we did not see.
slowly, our color drained.
purple trickled from my fingertips.
my heart was devoid of color,
now a blank canvas.
