It was there from the beginning,

a small, demanding tug,

a little spark,

(that I realize now)

was definitely love.

What I didn't know just then was

that you had felt it too,

though it'd be quite awhile

before we both said

"I love you."

Fast-forward a little later,

we say "I love you" every day.

We're planning a future to be proud of together.

It's perfect in every way.

We've already named our future children,

a little girl, a little boy,

I've pictured them playing

as we watch on, full of joy.

These thoughts cause my heart to swell

with hopefulness and peace.

I never thought I'd fall in love

with this amount of ease.

And so, My Future Husband,

though the things I'm sure of may be few,

one thing is for certain,

I belong with you.
