The Storm

Anxiety,

an anxious fit.

Slowly taking control like an infectious disease.

A flourishing person trapped inside their mind,

prying to get out.

Ready to deflate like a balloon that's just been popped,

blowing away through the sky like a child's kite.

You’re like a ticking time bomb.

An explosion building up, ready to set off at any moment.

The storm clouds roll in and the rain begins to pour,

drenching you in water as you lie there on the floor.

You can't control the weather, but like Zeus you try.

The storm is here,

you feel a cry.

As the clouds begin to fade

And the light peeks through,

The storm is over,

you've made it through.

You feel a wave of calm, but who knows how long it'll last.

Until the next storm, you’re feeling your best.

The author's comments:

This peice represents how I feel when I undergo a panic attack. Anxitey has always been something ive struggled with, and as of recently has really come to light. Its something that consistantly negativley affects me, but something im working to get over. This poem captures my emotions and thought process while dealing with my anxitey. I thought expressing my feelings through a poem would be a very therapeutic and calming method to convey my true emotions.
