Mental Mountain
Inside your mind
Lives a surplus of tall mountains,
Deep, dark valleys,
And treacherous storms.
Right now.
At the birth of this mountain
You have two paths to choose from.
The first path is simple,
Smooth, and straightforward.
Choose this path!
Come on! It’s so easy!
No.
If you choose this path,
You don’t care.
This path leads to a dark valley
That will swallow you whole before you realize it.
Please, stop and think.
Warning signs are telling you this is not the right way.
The other path is steep and intimidating,
Like facing your biggest fear.
It’s a long and winding path
With many opportunities to go back down.
This path is rocky.
You will stumble and fall along the way.
You will need some help.
Make sure to have people to fall back on.
Accept the help, because it reveals
Your character.
Getting over the mountain is extremely satisfying.
You just achieved that.
You just climbed the mountain that lives
Inside your mind.
The first path may seem familiar.
In the past, you’ve learned to walk away,
Before you even step in the room,
Before you make a mistake,
Before you show your true self.
But, learn to take the more complicated path.
Be open-minded and willing to try.
Celebrate small victories along the way.
You can do it.
I believe in you.
