The Flowers
We moved about the day so happily
Like maybe for once today would be perfect.
Today was our day.
But of course when is anything ever perfect
For that one wrong look, wrong word
started a war, a screaming match
that made tears flow like a river after a storm.
The next day we chose to forget it
because you bought flowers
beautiful, bright flowers.
The only thing keeping this love alive.
But for a moment everything was back to normal
We were happy. Back to all the inside jokes.
Reminiscing on all the memories
from when we first started dating.
Trying to hold onto the flowers for as long as we can.

I wrote this because I feel that in today's world we don't know what a real relationship is. We have learned from broken parents that love is fighting. It's something I want to bring awareness too, that being screamed at and then pitty apologies is not love.
