Guardian and protector

Someone who loves and lectures

You’ve lost and fought hard battles

But came out on top as strong as ever.

Guiding and teaching in every which way

Warm, toasty hugs on a stormy day

I may not be perfect,

I may not always listen

But you never diminish my ambition.

A southern belle to the core

Dolly Parton may just approve

Witt as sharp as knives and resilient too

Iced tea and key lime pie,

A savory combination craved by you every 4th of July.

My best friend who knows me best

Weak spots and strengths that I possess

I couldn’t imagine life without you

Not today or tomorrow

Or anywhere I attest.

Some may call her simple,

But I consider her extraordinary

She’s my momma and she’s far from ordinary.

My mom has always been the person who knows me best! I wrote this poem to reflect on my relationship with my mom. She has gone through so much in her life, but came out as strong as ever. Our bond has been unique from day one.

When my mom was my age, she lost her mom at 17 years old. God then blessed her with me! I am now known as her little miracle, but the more technical term "rainbow baby" after she suffered from 3 miscarriages and countless infertility issues. As I grow older and more mature, I learn to not take anything for granted and appreciate the little things in front of you.

This is for you mom, I love you to the moon and back!

-Your little peanut
