Cold

Ice suffocating me.

Stunned by the frigid water.

Cannot move. Cannot breathe. Cannot speak.

A rope jumps out at me.

Grab on

Don’t let go. Lifting, pulling, dragging me out.

I feel the warmth on my cool, pale skin.

I’m free

Free again.

Break apart

Switching between cold and warm.

Warmth guides me to safety

Cold drowns me again.

The rope, don’t let go,

Keeping me from diving back down

Stay in the light, warm and dry

Sanity held down by an anchor.

Safety achieved. New mindset

Keep going towards new future, better ideas

Different life.

Warm, dry

Safe. Contemporary thoughts

Back again, no intrusions

Hope found in the once darkness.
