Who We Are
We are rebuilding
We are still rising
We are equal
In all of the cultures and the doubtfulness people stand before man
It may always be this way, but we pray for change instead of seeking it out
Together made victorious a vicious way of showing our jealousy and showing our true fate
You may be one step down, but you are one step closer
If all that matters is where you are then what about where you can be
You say it is all for men; the culture, colors, characters, and conditions
If that were to be true you would not be here right now in front of a crowd
If harm was not wished for everyone then there would be no harm
If harmony was seeked upon all harmony would fill up nation as one
True we should put our differences aside, but with everyone finding something so terrible about everyone how can that be seen.
It is the past that we have been through and what we want to see in the future, but still no change
The hill we are climbing is not steep it is small
The hill being climbed needs to be shaped
The hill we are climbing is not big enough
We need challenge and encouragement from everyone mainly ourselves to see the differences and wish it upon ourselves
“History has its eyes on us”, but does anyone care?
The history we see is what we want different in our future still people argue about pigment of skin and discrimination
The history of race is now being turned backwards as it is being used against the people
History of democracy killing the country, but never can it be defeated
This is the era of hope
The era of caring more
The era of recreation
The era we need to try harder to work through differences
So that not only skinny black woman raised by only their mothers can make it high, but woman anywhere raised by single mothers and single fathers can
So that we do not have to be talking about each other as if we deserve it and talk about it as if we earned it
We try to rebuild in the wrong ways
We rise from the wrong adrenaline
And every “nook” of our country you see
Every corner you turn to see daylight
Every night light you see
That is the hope, but people are to sensitive and diverse to hope for change for everyone and only wish it upon themselves
We will fight and recover
We will step out of the darkness together
We will be brave enough to see it, but will never be brave enough to be it.
